Demonstrations in Jakarta, the Afghan refugee request sent to a third country

Dozens of Afghan refugees demonstrating in Jakarta's request to immediately be placed in a third country.
They held a protest in front of the UN agency that takes care of the problem of refugees (UNHCR) in Central Jakarta, with a poster in English. The contents of the posters, among others reads "Refugees are also human beings," How long must we wait? ".
As reported by BBC Indonesia, Sri Lestari, most refugees are ethnic Hazara was claimed to have been in Indonesia for more than three years and says not get the assurance of UNHCR.




One refugee Yahya Rafii (19 years old) said to have been in Indonesia since 2014 after traveling from Iran, India, Malaysia and ended up in Indonesia.
"Now there are Taliban, Isis and unsafe, we especially Hazaras no problem because the Shia and we do not get in there so we fled, I still wanted to Australia," said Yahya in Indonesian.


He said he wanted to go to Australia, because some of their relatives had settled there. While the father and mother are still displaced in Iran.
To get to Indonesia Yahya pay more than Rp40 million.
"Up to Indonesia must pay Rp40 million. From Malaysia to Indonesia was around Rp20 million," he explained.
Yahya said he had registered as refugees with UNHCR but this time did not get a living allowance.


Other participants of the action, an Afghan refugee who came from Herat, Sajjad Ehsani (24 years), said forced to flee for the safety of his life.
"My family and my relatives and friends cousin many were killed in the conflict in Afghanistan, I was in danger, I chose to live," said Sajjad who was in Indonesia for nearly four years.
He already has a refugee card two years ago. Sajjad said not a matter to be sent to a country where, as long as it could start a new life.
"Not too important I go anywhere, it's up to the UNHCR will send us to an extent. The most important thing I want to go somewhere else and start a new life. I came here when he was 21 years old, I lost my best year here," he said ,
During this time Sajjad claimed to get the cost of living of families in Afghanistan.
The refugees had met by UNHCR staff invited their representatives to enter into. But the invitation was rejected because the refugees want to go in all and for clarification of their status.
Until this news was written there has been no information from the UNHCR to respond to the demand of the refugees.
According to data from the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, immigrants from Afghanistan is the largest in Indonesia up to 14 thousand people, who have refugee status or asylum seekers. They were placed in detention centers or shelters, but some are choosing to stay in their own homes.
